Writing stories for children is Pricilla Jean Cowan’s passion. Born in the Colorado Rockies during the Depression, PJ listened to stories made up by her mother, and she in turn made up stories for her children.

In 2008, writing under the name PJ Cowan, she published her first book, “Michael O’Brien and the Magic Hat.” She wrote it for her great-grandchildren but decided to she would also share her stories with children who are growing up in circumstances not unlike those of the Depression years.

PJ and her husband Vernon have a large family. There are seven children, 11grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. The great grandkids (5 boys and 10 girls) range in age from 3 months to 19 years. The “greats” are widely scattered,  so the stories are her way of giving them a great grannies advice and council, (with a parents page for mom and dad). It is her wish that they pass the books on to their own children one day.
